Recent numerical study has shown that quasi-stationary planetary wave can cause large variability in the ionosphere, including the wind dynamo electric field, ion drift, F2 peak number density and height, and total electron contents, under solar minimum conditions. By analyzing the the model results, it is found that the planetary wave engages in nonlinear interaction with the tides, and the changes of migrating and non-migrating tidal components from the interaction strongly affect the ionosphere. In the current study, we examine the impacts on the ionosphere by the same planetary waves under different solar conditions. Similarity and differences in these responses, and the possible mechanisms for such responses will be studied.
