A geometrical model is presented for the dependence of the albedo of a granular medium on the optical parameters of the material and the length of the optical wavelength. While the model is formally one-dimensional, it takes the specific properties of the three-dimensional case into account. In order to calculate multiple light scattering within the limits of one particle, averaged Fresnel coefficients are used. This model describes measurements of surfaces having an albedo of less than 10 percent more accurately than the Stokes-Bodo model does. Results are pertinent to the study of lunar albedo.
