In an accompanying paper, Draine considers the formulation of the problem of multicomponent reacting MHD flows. Draine notes certain discrepancies with earlier work on this same problem by Flower, Pineau des Forets & Hartquist. In this paper, the authors consider the quantitative significance of these discrepancies in the context of shocks propagating in interstellar clouds.
