Atomic hydrogen for this model has been inferred from the hydroxyl airglow measurements on SME spacecraft between 10 and 1.3 micro-bar (80-93 km). During the day Meinel band emission of OH is proportional to the product of ozone and hydrogen. Since daytime ozone has been inferred from the O2(1 Delta-g) emission, daytime hydrogen can be inferred. Very large annual and semiannual changes are found in this region. At 40 deg N the summer-to-spring ratio of atomic hydrogen exceeds a factor of 4 at 10 micro-bar (80 km).
