It is shown that spherical aberration and coma can be controlled by using two hyperboloids instead of the paraboloid-hyperboloid pair in the Wolter type I telescope. With this approach, the coma-free condition is satisfied only at a particular radius of the first mirror. An algorithm for determining the parameters of a pair of hyperboloids that has a given spherical aberration is presented. The best performance is achieved when the coma-free condition is allowed at the outer edge and about half of the defocused image for the largest height of an object is canceled by introducing spherical aberration.
