The present work analyzes hypothetical mechanisms of Alfven wave dissipation in the solar corona when it is assumed that Alfven waves are responsible for the heating of the solar corona. A mechanism involving nonlinear wave-wave interaction near the top of magnetic loops is examined in detail, and it is shown that if the wave intensity is enough for wave dissipation to exceed radiative energy losses, the temperature rise is limited by electron heat conduction and is independent of wave intensity and electron density. The excess temperature depends on the magnetic field such that the more magnetic regions are heated more strongly.
