THE Cygnus OB2 stellar association contains the most heavily reddened
early type star known1,2. If all interstellar grains were to
be removed from the line of sight to this eleventh magnitude star, it
would rival Sirius as the brightest in the sky, its B-V colour excess
being 3.7 magnitudes3.
