The present work reviews the principal results of a large number of theoretical and experimental studies of the solar wind. Data are presented on the mean parameters of the plasma and magnetic field in the interplanetary medium and on perturbations in density, temperature, velocity, chemical composition, and magnetic field in the solar wind plasma. Hydrodynamic and kinetic models of the solar wind are presented, and difficulties in steady-state description are discussed. Transport phenomena, stability, and the propagation of waves in the interplanetary medium are examined.
