An investigation is conducted of the collapse of flat gas clouds. The assumption is made that the motion of the gas is restricted to the direction parallel to the rotation axis. It is also assumed that the density varies only in the direction perpendicular to the plane. The configuration at gravitational equilibrium is studied along with the conditions of dynamical stability in the case of infinite plane-symmetric cloud, taking into account also a comparison with a spherically symmetric cloud.
