The requirements of a new imaging telescope for hard X-ray astronomy
identify a need for a triple or quadruple phoswich detector. This paper
considers the possibility of applying the classic pulse shape
discriminator techniques but concludes that a new fast veto system would
provide a more effective and compact arrangement.
