Cosmic rays injected into a supernova remnant can produce neutrinos by interactions on the gas. The authors give a simple analytic approximation for the neutrino flux, from which the rate of muons produced in the rock surrounding a plane detector can be estimated. If the power in accelerated protons is near the maximum that might be expected from a rapidly rotating neutron star, the signal could be detectable with underground detectors with projected area of order 100 m2, but only within the first few years.
