The determination of fault-plane solutions has been carried out, using a computer, for 147 earthquakes which occurred in the Far East region during 1974-1976. An estimator of the reliability of the fault-plane solutions is suggested based on the 85% confidence regions for the vector of displacement in the focus and for the normal to the fault plane.
