Scientific paper

The paper examines the two-dimensional problem of the formation of a perturbed zone near a spacecraft moving with hypersonic speed in a Maxwellian collisionless plasma (the ionospheric plasma), with allowance for the effect of electric fields near the spacecraft on the structure of the perturbed zone. The study is based on a function of ion distribution in the flow field from which the spacecraft body, impermeable for the particles, has been removed but the electric field generated by the body has been preserved. This function is determined as the solution of a kinetic equation in the plasma flow field in the presence of the electric field. In addition, the degree of the 'sweeping away' of positively charged particles by the body is determined for an arbitrary point of the flow.
