Characteristic data regarding the system U Cephei are examined, giving attention also to questions of the transfer of matter from the G8 star to the B7 star. Observational data show that U Cephei has been active throughout August, September, and part of October 1974. It is shown that the outburst could not have begun earlier than October, 1973, nor later than July, 1974.
