The development of the Anglo-Australian telescope is traced and its
contributions to astronomy are mentioned. The telescope incorporates an
electronic computerized drive and control system and a Wamplerton. Its
uses include investigation of interstellar absorption at 3.4 microns in
studies of the nature of interstellar grains.
