Scientific paper

The results of a statistical investigation of the variation of the E-region critical frequency f(0)E with geographic latitude and with each of the three indices of solar activity, the Zuerich relative sunspot number, the solar radio noise flux at 10.7 cm and the ionospheric index of solar activity, are reported and numerical expressions are derived. For practical purposes, any of the proposed equations may be used but, to predict correct f(0)E values, the corresponding equations of solar activity and of latitude should be applied.
