Models and concepts reported by Binder (1974, 1975) are considered in an analysis of lunar heat flow characteristics. It is generally assumed that the earth and the moon are in steady state. The heat flow in both bodies is, therefore, only due to heat produced by the radioactive decay of K, U, and Th. It is pointed out that the analysis conducted of the regional and possible hemispherical variations in the heat flow applies to any model of the moon in which large scale gravitational differentiation has played an important role in the development of the crust and mantle of the moon.
