Investigations of electromagnetic fields of natural and artificial ULF sources in the Arctic basin are described. The spectral characteristics of natural fields are determined which indicate that atmospheric sources make the main contribution to the total ULF radiation field in the basin; these sources (confirmed by an investigation of Schumann resonances) are associated with the excitation of the earth-ionosphere waveguide. In addition, the mechanism of the intrinsic ULF emission of ice cover in the Arctic basin is discussed.
