Particle-Theory And Field-Theory Models Of The Early Universe
Scientific paper
We discuss the onset of inflation in an inhomogeneous, asymptotically
Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe coupled to a scalar inflaton field.
We consider a three-parameter family of inhomogeneous Cauchy data, for
which we can solve analytically the constraint equations. Inflation only
occurs if the Cauchy data are homogeneous over several horizon lengths.
