Scientific paper

The 22Ne(α,n) reaction is considered as one of the primary neutron sources for the nucleosynthesis of the heavy elements. At the same time 22Ne is effective as a neutron poison via the 22Ne(n,γ) reaction. Therefore, its neutron capture cross section is of essential importance in the assessment of the neutron balance in stellar nucleosynthesis.
