Collective neutrino flavor transformations take place deep inside a supernova if the neutrino mass hierarchy is inverted, even for extremely small values of θ. We show that the presence (or absence) of Earth matter effects in antineutrino signal is directly related to the absence (or presence) of these collective effects, when the mixing angle θ is small. Thus a neutrino signal from a galactic supernova may enable us to distinguish between the hierarchies even for small values of θ.
