Previous studies of collisionless magnetic reconnection, specifically the GEM challenge results, have shown that the physics of the Hall term allows reconnection rates much faster than those seen with a constant resistivity. However, the Hall term only becomes important at length scales comparable to the ion inertial length, which may be quite small compared to the equilibrium current sheet width. We examine the evolution of reconnection in a plasma with an initial current sheet width significantly greater than an ion inertial length. We simulate this plasma using a two-fluid model with the Hall term and electron inertia.
