We present a new model of the two-dimensional velocity-space distribution of neutral hydrogen atoms along the solar apex. We solve a collisional Boltzmann transport equation that accounts for photo-ionization and charge exchange collisions with a background distribution of protons derived from a hydrodynamic simulation. A finite difference solution for a specialized velocity-space grid allows a detailed examination of the non-Maxwellian distribution of hydrogen for heliocentric distances up to 200 AU, including interesting streaming effects. We compare these results with a recent hybrid hydrodynamic/particle treatment of the interaction of the solar wind with the partially ionized local interstellar medium. Partially supported by the Thailand Research Fund, NFS award ATM-0078650, and NASA grants NAG 5-8134 and NAG 5-6469.
