An intermediate-band CaH filter has been used with Kron-Cousins R and I filters at the National Undergraduate Research Observatory (NURO) and at the Ball State University Observatory to determine luminosity classes of M stars. The CaH filter/CCD combination detects much more flux than the B filter for M stars at these two sites and is more efficient in luminosity classification. The advantages of using CaH rather than broad-band color indices using U or B will be discussed. The calibration process using stars of known luminosity class will be described and compared for the two sites. Preliminary results for program stars will be summarized. Funding for the project has been received from the Indiana Space Grant Consortium, The Indiana Academy of Science, The American Astronomical Society, the National Science Foundation and Ball State University.
