The problem of a mathematical description of meteoroid heating during the preablation phase of its atmospheric motion is addressed. Only terms that are linear in temperature are considered; the radiation is not taken into account. A general formula is obtained that is valid for any kind of energy influx applied at the sphere surface. This generalization enables treatment of meteoroid heating problems which were not considered in the past. Taken into consideration are the anisotropy of the energy influx arising from the meteoroid motion, the influence of body deceleration due to the drag exerted by the atmosphere, a more realistic atmosphere density profile than the barometric one widely used, and the proper rotation of the meteoroid. Each problem is solved using the method of integral transforms.
