The spectra of O stars are described and it is found that, for middle and late O subtypes, the Si IV lines at 4089 and 4116 A in the visible and 1394 and 1403 in the UV grow stronger among the more luminous stars. Wolf-Rayet stars are discussed as well as mass loss, stellar associations, diffuse nebulae, interstellar lines, and the tip of the main sequence. It is noted that only 0.00004 percent of all main-sequence luminaries are O stars.
