The contemporary observational cosmology needs a continuous increase in photometric data on larger and larger samples of fainter and fainter galaxies. The use of CCD cameras is increasing but, as a consequence of their high sensitivity in the red, difficulties arise due to the night sky emission. Narrow or intermediate band multicolor photometry allows the determination of both the redshift and spectral type of galaxies. Concertation is needed to define a suitable system of filters and to measure faint spectrophotometric standards.
