We calculate the equation of state of asymmetric nuclear matter in
generalized chemical equilibrium in the relativistic
Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approximation, and study its impact on the
properties of (rapidly) rotating neutron stars by solving the stellar
structure equations in the framework of general relativity theory.
