Results of a Monte Carlo study on the response of a segmented CsI(Tl) detection plane to polarised gamma ray photons are presented. It is demonstrated that the Imager instrument on the ESA/NASA International Gamma Ray Astrophysical Laboratory (INTEGRAL) will have a good sensitivity, of the order of a few percent, to the Crab Pulsar in the 250-500 keV energy band. At higher energies, > 1500 keV, the polarisation sensitivity is dominated by the detector background and the INTEGRAL Imager will only be able to set upper limits on the polarisation at these energies. It is further shown that, in the absence of any systematic noise, the INTEGRAL Imager will be able to resolve the electric vector direction of any polarised emission from the Crab pulsar to less than 1°. However, systematic noise is likely to dominate the ability of the INTEGRAL Imager as a polarimeter, limiting its polarisation angular resolution to 5-10°.
