The theory of a spectral approach to the interpretation of deep anomalies of the Earth's electromagnetic field is presented. The model used is described. The following stages are involved in interpreting electromagnetic anomalies of the defined type; (1) discrimination of main part of the anomalous field, (2) finding the total anomalous field, (3) finding horizontal coordinate of center of anomalous current, (4) finding vertical coordinate of center of anomalous current, and (5) determination of other parameters of inhomogeneity. This spectral interpretation approach gives considerable information on the inhomogeneity in a conducting half space without any assumptions concerning its form.
