Optical Design: Meteor Cameras

Scientific paper

The paper describes the first vibration isolated meteor camera in China, including its design and construction. The photographs taken with this instrument show that it has fulfilled the desired specification, that is, 80°×80° super wide field of view, observable meteor of about 0 magnitude, chopping frequency of 25 Hz, shutter open and close interval ratio 1:2, position accuracy 0.01 and relative time accuracy 1%. Since the instrument can isolate itself from vibration, the images of meteors on the photographs appear sharp for different regions around the sky.
