Planetary Satellites: Orbit Stability
Scientific paper
The problem of the stable regions of motion of the natural satellites in the solar system is discussed and an explanation about the reason that there exists a larger stable region for the motion of retrograde satellites is given. Based on the model of the circular restricted three-body problem consisting of Sun-planet-satellite, it is discussed whether each of the satellites in the solar system is situated in the stable region or not.
