Solar Microwave Bursts: Flux Densities, Solar Microwave Bursts: Spectral Indices

Scientific paper

14 solar radio bursts with double humped structure during 1989 - 1990 are analysed. From the variation of spectral indices and flux densities with time, one can put these bursts into six kinds. One can divide these six kinds of bursts into two groups from the morphology of time profiles and spectral indices. The ratios of fluxes and the difference of spectral indices of two peaks are linear correlated. However, the slope of the "first group" is negative, and that of the "second group" positive. According to the theory of gyro-synchrotron radiation, one can identify the "negatively correlative" as caused by the lower magnetic field in the sources emitting two peaks. On the contrary, the "positively correlative" by a higher magnetic field.
