The study of horizontal branch (HE) A-stars presents an opportunity to test stellar structure calculations for Population II stars in an advanced evolutionary state. Optical photometry and spectroscopy has revealed a group of HE A-stars which have anamalouslv high masses -is derived semi-empirically from colors and theory. Only two of them have been observed in the ultraviolet and both are peculiar! they are also unusual in the infrared. We propose to make UV observations of the "high mass" HB A-Stars and some previously unobserved HE A7-stars with similar optical colors. We wish to determine whether the UV characteristics of the high-mass group -are a general feature of the group, it is possible that some of these objects are binary and could provide a direct measure of the masses independentlv of theory. If they are not, then their unusual energy distributions will be exceptionally diffficult to understand in terms of current theories.
