We propose to use small-aperture, high-dispersion, IUE spectra of Lyman-alpha emission to derive the column density, bulk velocity, and velocity dispersion of neutral hydrogen toward late-type stars in the immediate neighborhood of the sun. The Lyman-alpha profile of alpha Cen B has never been studied at high dispersion, and the derived interstellar parameters will provide an important consistency check with those derived toward alpha Cen A. The value of the HI column density toward HR1099 is important for future observations of its expected strong chromospheric EUV emissions. Finally, analysis of both Copernicus and large-aperture IUE spectra indicate that a relatively precise value of D/H can be derived along the line-of-sights toward alpha Aur and alpha CMi.
