High and low dispersion UV (1200 to 3200 A) and optical (4100 to 7800 A) spectra of the novalike object V3885 Sgr were obtained. The UV spectra exhibit highly ionized resonance features, in part (e.g., C IV 1550) with P Cygni profile. The optical region is characterized by broad and shallow Balmer absorption lines with superimposed complex emission components. The absorption and emission features show pronounced phase dependent velocity and intensity variations. The continuum intensity distribution in the optical and UV range is compared with a steady-state accretion disk model. Physical conditions in the disk and the structure of the system are discussed.
