The location and extent of haze layers in the Venusian stratosphere have been investigated on the basis of previously reported (Ksanfomaliti and Petrova, 1978) observations obtained by the UV photometer on Venera 9. Profiles have been established for two photometric curves for limb positions close to the morning and evening terminators and for phase angles of 149 and 122 deg. On the morning limb the analysis shows two thin layers of haze. The first, located about 10 km above the upper boundary of the underlying cloud layer, is approximately 2 km thick, with a brightness about 60% that of the cloud layer, while the second, located at about 13 km above the first, has a brightness about 70% that of the cloud layer. The haze layers near the evening limb are not easily distinguished as their brightness is relatively insignificant in comparison with that of the underlying clouds.
