A procedure is considered whereby a spacecraft is guided into the docking region by means of impulses directed parallel to the tangent of the orbit of the target spacecraft. Orbit planes of both spacecraft are considered coincident and the orbit of the target spacecraft is assumed to be circular. Therefore, the correcting impulses are parallel to the x-axis of the target spacecraft coordinate system, and the aim of the control program becomes one of choosing impulse moments and determining values of the relative velocity component after application of the impulses.
