The effects of zonal harmonics of the earth potential on the motion of a satellite in quasi-synchronous orbit are examined. A model which takes into account a large number of zonal harmonics of the earth potential and allows the solution of the equation of satellite in closed form is considered. The model is constructed using three pairs of fixed centers with complex-conjugated attracting masses located on the ordinate axis of the geocentric equatorial system. Formulas are derived which describe the satellite motion taking into account disturbances of the earth potential up to a combination of eight harmonics. The results of approximating the actual earth potential by a force function were used for design-ballistic calculations of a family of quasi-synchronous near-circular orbits planned for earth resources satellites.
