The feasibility of using the Levi-Civita method for obtaining local
solutions in the analysis of optimal spacecraft trajectories is
demonstrated. The method is employed to find a class of local solutions
in the problem of minimizing characteristic velocity in a central force
field. Several orbital maneuver problems are considered as examples.
