Eclipsing Binaries:Ephemerides
Scientific paper
Discovered by Moorhead, VZ Psc has been classified (Eggen, 1967) as an EW with a period of 0.261 d. Though its colour indices (U-B) and (B-V) are high, the colour-period relation can be applied (Eggen, 1967). Using 367 visual estimates, the author has been able, first, to calculate ephemeris, valid for 1978, and, secondly, to establish a one-to-one correspondence with the minima observed by DIETHELM (Locher, 1977). Using these three minima, ephemeris can then be derived. The same cannot be done with the mean minimum published by Eggen, for which three values of E are equally plausible, owing to the cumulative effect of errors caused by the uncerteinty. A mean lightcurve obtained from visual observations is presented. It is possible to discriminate between primary and secondary minima only by taking in consideration Eggen's mean minimum, reported as a primary.
