Results are reported for observations of the J = 1-0 (2.7-mm) transitions of (C-12)O and (C-13)O in L43, which may be an example of a filament that has evolved to the point where it contains a central condensation. A map of (C-13)O temperature contours is presented, along with a map of the outer (6-K) contour of (C-12)O and results for star counts made on a hypersensitized plate. (C-13)O column densities are estimated, and L43 is shown to be an elongated globule with a central condensation of at least 14 solar masses. It is found that the projected velocity gradients are so low that the cloud cannot support itself by rotation and that the cloud is not likely to be collapsing at a free-fall velocity along its own length. It is suggested that if the two stars associated with L43 recently formed in the cloud, star formation may have occurred inside the cloud before it collapsed as a whole.
