The possibility of catalytic acceleration of the proton-proton reaction in the solar interior is considered. It is shown that such acceleration may well be the case when two protons beta-decay to form a deuteron in the vicinity of a third nuclear particle, such as p, 4He, 3He, and d. The effect of nuclear catalysis on the solar neutrino flux is also discussed.
