Medium resolution (2 kaysers) spectra of Jupiter at far infrared wavelengths have been taken using a balloon-borne Michelson interferometer. The spectra show rotational bands from the ammonia in the Jovian atmosphere. There is no evidence for 'emission' features at the centers of the bands as predicted from some atmospheric profiles inferred from previous observations.
