For long time, measurements of accurate stellar dimensions in eclipsing binaries have been a standard method for the comparison of theoretical model computations with empirical data. Some new perspective are provided in this paper as a result of new modern techniques leading to much better precisions. A number of still unsolved problems and new challenges for the understanding of stellar physics through the analysis of high-precision light curves, as expected from ongoing and new space missions, are discussed.
