The treatment of convection in stellar evolution calculations is briefly discussed, with emphasis on the modelling of low- and intermediate-mass stars. The specific cases of core convection during the central He-burning phase and surface superadiabatic convection are analyzed in more detail, as examples of the uncertainties involved in modelling convective regions within the current generation of stellar evolution codes.
