We point out the existence of a generalized ergosphere in the Reissner
Nordstrøm geometry and we give an explicit formula to determine
its range. These results are compared and contrasted with the ones
obtained in the case of the Kerr solution. An explicit process of energy
extraction from a Reissner Nordstrøm black hole is given.
