We briefly summarize some of the results of the IAU Symposium 184 "The Central Regions of the Galaxy and Galaxies" held in Kyoto, Japan. The focus will be on the imroved and converging mass determinations for Sgr A* through NIR proper motion studies of stars and the theoretical interpretation of this source, the metallicity in the Galactic Center (GC), the evidence for supernovae explosions, star formation, and the ineraction of non-thermal filaments with molecular gas in the GC.
