We report on our efforts to model Nova hohlraum experiments in which thin tracers layers are embedded in aluminum witness plates. The emission from these KCl and MgF2 tracers is used to diagnose the time-dependent properties of the aluminum as well as the hohlraum radiation conditions. The time delay between the appearance of spectral features from two different tracer layers can further be used to evaluate the propagation velocity of the radiation wave in the aluminum witness plate. We also explore the possibility of using scattering lines from the tracer material as an albedo diagnostic. This modeling is carried out with the radiation-hydrodynamic, collisional-radiative equilibrium, and atomic structure codes developed at the University of Wisconsin.
