Three dimensional simulations of supersonic jets performed with Cartesian smoothed particle hydrodynamics are presented. Jets are recognized as a common phenomena in astrophysics. Supersonic flows are observed to emerge from protostars and active nuclei of galaxies. The structure and evolution of both radiative cooling and adiabatic cosmic jets are compared. The development of nonaxisymmetric dynamic instabilities and thermal instabilities is also examined. The simulations show the presence of a dense cold shell formed by the cooling of the shock heated gas when qS = dcool/Rj less than or equal to 1.
